Policy Renewals

The migration of a modernLINK policy into an AMsuite policy is a “conversion.” It follows the process outlined on this site. Conversion is a one-time process.

Conversion is different than a “renewal.” A renewal is the reauthorization of a policy created in AMsuite into a new policy when the initial policy term expires.

We call out this distinction so that everyone is aware that the conversion process, with its multiple layers of communication, will not happen every year. Renewals are largely automatic unless the policyholder intervenes to make a coverage change or does not make an initial payment.

The AMsuite renewal process is different than modernLINK.

Here are a few tips to help you be proactive with late-term changes:

  • Once the renewal process has started, apply current term policy changes to the renewal term so that the renewal also reflects the desired coverage change.
  • Refer to the Billing page in AMsuite to advise policyholders of any changes to the payment amount or installments when a policy change results in a revised premium after the renewal has been offered.
  • Refer billing changes to American Modern if the renewal process has started, but has not yet been offered.
  • Apply billing changes to the renewal term after the renewal has been offered.
