When someone yells, “Get out of the way!” you should. In fact, we’ll pay you to do it. One of the benefits of your Boat and Yacht policy is that we’ll cover part of the cost to move your vessel to safety when it’s threatened by a hurricane or named storm.
Things happen fast when the weather turns, so plan ahead—don’t wait ‘til the storm is on your doorstep. For smaller watercraft, contact a hauling company to move it to inland storage. For larger watercraft, it’s probably much easier just to navigate out of harm’s way yourself as early as possible. Either way, we’ll reimburse you up to $500 for the cost; a higher reimbursement limit is available as an optional endorsement.
Ask your agent now for a short form that lets us know where you’re normally moored and where you expect to be during an emergency. Then you can focus on acting quickly and show us your expense receipts later.
You may never need it, but this policy perk will save you both money and a headache if you’re able to get out of the way when Mother Nature tells you to.
